Canada Winter Games 2007

Volunteering for the love of sport! Showcasing the Yukon winter at -4o degrees celcius! I volunteered for two weeks. During the first week it was cold & windy & depressing and we gave the southerners a taste of ancient weather paterns in the north... just what they were seeking. I say ancient because that cold of temperature for that amount of time is rare these days. You hear of that type of weather only in stories now. And the stories will continue on after this expereince! Long live the arctic temperatures! The first week I was up at Mount Sima putting up fencing for the snowboard events, assistant timer for the parallel giant slalom, and supposed to do Kimik results for CWG's website, but I was job sharing that but the dude was so awesome at it that I wasn't really needed, so I was able to watch the halfpipe event! That was the sunniest day of the week... it made the day soooo sweet!

Me at the Half Pipe! Look how good the fencing is!

Flags of our Snowboard Volunteer Crew

Yes. The temperature was cold but it was amazing how all the volunteers stuck it out. Man we're tough made in the Yukon! I had it much easier in the second week. I was at the gymnastic venue. My two favorite sports. Snowboarding and Gymnastics. I was able to work as youth volunteer organizer, line judge, schmoozer, fit out & tear down, march in marshal, vacuming, table setter, chalk refiller, video technician, and play the athlete floor music during training. It was totally fun, every bit of it and it was indoors, nice and warm. The second week's temperatures were warmer but sooo good to be out of the elements! As a result of all the volunteering, I now have a slight cold/cough which many vollies have had. Mine made an appearance afer the games, phew! None-the-less, here I am well into the night posting this blog as I slept all day due to cold... I'll have to fix that in order to make work Monday.

I didn't have much time to snap some good shots at the gymnastic venue, however, here are a few that turned out. ...
